Cornerstone Christian Academy Athletics Joins VISAA and Virginia Christian Athletic Conference (VCAC) Beginning in 2026-27

Cornerstone Christian Academy (CCA) is excited to announce a significant milestone for our athletic program as we begin a new chapter during the 2026-27 school year.

Following a vote by the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) Board of Directors in June 2026, Cornerstone Christian Academy has officially been granted full membership in VISAA after just one year of provisional status. CCA’s full membership status becomes effective immediately for the 2026-27 school year.

As a full VISAA member, CCA's varsity athletic teams and student-athletes are now eligible to qualify for and compete in VISAA State Championships. In addition, eligible student-athletes may now receive All-State recognition, providing new opportunities to compete and be honored alongside some of Virginia's top independent school athletes.

In conjunction with becoming a full VISAA member, Cornerstone Christian Academy is also proud to announce that it has joined the Virginia Christian Athletic Conference (VCAC) as its primary athletic conference beginning this school year.

The VCAC is comprised of well-established Christian and Catholic schools who are aligned and share Cornerstone's commitment to faith, truth, and competitive excellence without compromising their mission. The conference offers competition in the following sports: baseball, basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field, and volleyball.

Beginning this fall, Cornerstone's Middle School, Junior Varsity, and Varsity teams will compete in the VCAC alongside:

  • Evergreen Christian School
  • Fredericksburg Christian School
  • Immanuel Christian School
  • John Paul the Great Catholic High School
  • Oakcrest School
  • Seton School
  • Trinity Christian School

Cornerstone will compete as a provisional VCAC member during the 2026-27 school year, becoming eligible for conference championship tournaments beginning in 2027-28.

This move positions Cornerstone to compete consistently against quality programs while strengthening long-term rivalries within a conference of like-minded schools. Every VCAC member is also a full VISAA member, creating a clear pathway from regular-season conference competition to statewide postseason opportunities at the varsity level.

With the move to the VCAC, CCA will be leaving the Northern Virginia Independent Athletic Conference (NVIAC). The NVIAC has played an important role in the growth of our athletic program, and we are thankful for the relationships, competition, and experiences shared over the years with its member schools.

One exception to this conference transition is Varsity Boys Flag Football, which will continue to compete in the NVIAC for the time being.

As we look ahead to the 2026-27 school year, we are excited for the opportunities these changes provide for our student-athletes, coaches, and school community. We believe this move strengthens our athletic program while remaining true to our mission of playing for His glory and using athletics to develop Christ-centered leaders who pursue excellence in athletics.
